“We think it’s a viable business model,” said David Sabados and Sabrina D’Agosta, founders of the Denver North Star.
But don’t expect the high-end gym brand to open anytime soon.
“If you don’t get the joke, it’s just still a very Colorado-sounding name,” said co-owner Eric Storm.
Home Depot previously was under contract to buy the site. Developer Jason Winkler said leases for the retail space haven’t been finalized.
“There’s direct competition with the Family Dollar right next to us,” the owner said. “It’s been a struggle since the landlord had them come in last year.”
The company owns 14 complexes in the Denver area, with two more currently under construction.
Westminster-based Frictionless is the parent company of brands that include Redback lawn care equipment and RanchEx ranching equipment.
Park Hill Commons is being developed by Denver-based HM Capital.
Harbinger Development paid $17.5 million in August for 650 17th St. But its website indicates it struck another deal before that.
