It’s been a rough month for Denver bike shops.
Congress Park bike shop The Mindful Bike will close at the end of this month after a four-year run, a store clerk confirmed Thursday. The shop’s final day is Oct. 31.
Owners Jason Erickson and Kyle O’Rear founded The Mindful Bike at its current 3509 E. 12th Ave. location in 2011. Both co-founders have IT backgrounds and got interested in the bike business while attending grad school in Denmark, according to the company’s website.
The Mindful Bike specializes in service and sales of commuter bikes, from tire replacement to custom builds. Additionally, the company’s website lists 34 models of bikes for sale.
The bike shop shares a 5,400-square-foot building with Capitol Heights Pharmacy & Liquor. Larimer Associates broker Pat McHenry is marketing the Mindful Bike space.
This year has proven to be a rough ride for Denver’s cycling industry. Salvagetti Bicycle Workshop on 38th Avenue hit the brakes last month, and the Track Shack on Tremont Street will close at the end of October.
