WeWork finally has put its stamp on Cherry Creek.

The New York-based coworking company has signed a lease for 18,000 square feet in the Financial House, the eight-story office building nearing completion at the northwest corner of 2nd Avenue and Detroit Street. A spokesman said the company expects to open in late summer or fall.

Matt Joblon, whose firm BMC Investments is developing Financial House — which will have 70,000 square feet of office space and 5,000 square feet of retail space — said the building is now 100 percent leased.

“I think there’s so much pent-up demand in Cherry Creek North for what they offer,” Joblon said of WeWork. “Denver is a very entrepreneurial city.”

The Denver Business Journal first reported the lease. WeWork will occupy floors two and three, and expects to have approximately 300 desks.

BMC Investments and Bow River Capital broke ground on Financial House in fall 2017. Both firms are moving into the building; BMC has leased the fourth floor, while Bow River is taking part of the seventh floor and all of the eighth.

Joblon said two other tenants, whom he declined to name, have leased the building’s remaining office space.

BusinessDen previously reported that Amazon has leased the building’s retail space for a bookstore.

Joblon said the first tenants will move in during April.

Financial House is the ninth location that WeWork has committed to in Denver, although six of those have yet to open, and one is in Revolution360, a RiNo project that has yet to break ground.

WeWork now has leased more than 600,000 square feet of office space in Denver, and is poised to be the city’s largest private office user, beating out DaVita, which has 562,950 square feet of office space.

WeWork will join other coworking companies already open in Cherry Creek, including Neu.works, which opened this summer, and Thrive Coworking, which opened in 2013.

BusinessDen reporter Thomas Gounley contributed to this report.
