Electric car maker Rivian is doubling the size of its Denver service center.

The California-based company has leased an additional 20,914 square feet in York Street Yards, a row of former U.S. Army warehouses in the Clayton neighborhood.

Rivian spokeswoman Miranda Jimenez told BusinessDen the lease will “expand our footprint for vehicle servicing at this site to meet continued growing demand in the Denver market.”

Rivian’s existing service center at the site is also about 21,000 square feet, records show.

The facility opened in 2021. In addition to servicing, it also offers demo drives for interested customers and serves as a pick-up spot for those who have ordered vehicles. Rivian, which makes an electric pick-up truck and SUV, delivered its first vehicles in 2021. The truck starts at $67,500.

Rivian is also planning to open a service center in Colorado Springs, which will be its second in the state.

Rivian has also leased a smaller space in RiNo for what permit filings say will be a showroom.

York Street Yards is a row of former U.S. Army warehouses with a mix of industrial and retail tenants, including a Czech-style brewery, a VF Corp.-backed outdoor gear reseller and e-bike company Rad Power Bikes. Local developers Ken Wolf and Ari Stutz sold the property for $76.6 million in 2020 to a Portland, Oregon-based firm.

Lincoln Property Co. brokers Mark Dwyer and Andrew Piepgras represented the landlord in the Clayton lease deal.
