Professional golf returned to Colorado last week, as 156 players gathered in Berthoud to compete for a chance to move on to the PGA Tour.

The inaugural TPC Colorado Championship at Heron Lakes began July 8 and wrapped up Sunday. Part of the Korn Ferry Tour (previously Web.com), the top 25 players will now move on to the 2019-2020 PGA Tour, slated to begin Sept. 12.

Argentinian golfer Nelson Ledesma took home the championship title and first prize of $108,000. The rest of the $600,000 purse was dispersed among the rest of the top 55 players, which included Colorado native Mark Hubbard.

There’s a five-year agreement in place to keep the TPC Colorado Championship in Berthoud through 2023.

As of Monday, TPC Colorado officials didn’t have definite attendance numbers, but tournament director Drew Blass said it “broke records” for an inaugural Korn Ferry tournament.
