The most expensive unit in Cherry Creek’s newest condo development sold last month, in the process locking down the title of June’s priciest Denver-area home sale.

The 4,760-square-foot penthouse unit, one of three on the top of the 12-story Laurel Cherry Creek building at 155 Steele St., sold in early June for $6.74 million.

The unit was originally listed in 2017 while the building was under construction at just over $7 million, but later dropped to $6.7 million.

The entity that purchased the penthouse, 155 Steele St LLC, was formed by Denver investment banker George A. Wiegers, per public records.

Laurel Cherry Creek has 71 condos. The building’s first residents began moving in this past April. Another penthouse unit sold that month for $5.44 million.

The project’s website indicates that 30 of the 71 units are still available for purchase, including a third 3,500-square-foot penthouse unit. Asking prices on remaining units range from $679,000 for a 930-square-foot unit on the third floor, to $4.99 million for a 3,500-square-foot unit on the 11th floor.

Laurel Cherry Creek was developed by The Pauls Corp, and designed by Johnson Nathan Strohe. Haselden Construction was the general contractor.
