Shorenstein’s lawsuit in Denver District Court alleges Saunders used the wrong materials when it built The Grand’s water systems, leading to 33 leaks and “large-scale floods.”
Francois Safieddine, the restaurateur also behind My Neighbor Felix and the upcoming Wonderyard, said he’s planning a new concept for the location.
“Diversifying in suburban areas outside of Denver seemed like the right move,” said co-owner James Blanchard.
The proposals call for an eight-story, 125-unit hotel at 1709 Blake St. and a 12-story, 89-unit “apart-hotel” at 1480 Wewatta St.
The May 8 violence, which was caught on tape, resulted in an arrest. Meanwhile, the hotel may be sold off after an auction failed to raise $7.9 million.
The Seattle-based firm, which has a large Denver presence, had planned an eight-story project at 1420 Wynkoop St.
The 19,112-square-foot structure at 1834 Blake St. dates to 1939. The buyer paid about $288 per square foot.
Pirate Alley Boucherie will be on the ground floor of the Ice House condo building at 1801 Wynkoop St.
“We’re the hole in the donut,” Brent Farber said of 1801 Market St., which is half a city block in an otherwise heavily-developed area.
