The sun may soon be setting on a Sunnyside restaurant.

Sunnyside Supper Club at 2915 W. 44th Ave. opened in December 2021, becoming the fourth restaurant to operate in the roughly 5,700-square-foot building since the 1940s. But the property is now up for sale for $2.75 million, or $482 a square foot, according to a LoopNet listing

A marketing brochure advertises it as a “turn-key opportunity” that could include all the building’s fixtures and equipment, meaning Sunnyside Supper Club would no longer be operating if a deal closes.

The property is owned by the parent company of Sunnyside Supper Club. The Mighty Hospitality Group, run by James Samara and Brendan McManus, purchased the space in October 2021 for $3.1 million, or $544 a square foot, records show. The duo also manage Lucky Pie, El Jefe, Hook & Harvest and Mighty Burger.

Samara, McManus and the listing brokers did not respond to a request for comment from BusinessDen.

The restaurant is known for its pizza and beer, and is open Wednesday through Sunday. A regular cheese pizza costs $14; most other menu items range between $10 and $20.

Ernie’s Bar and Pizza, the previous restaurant there, spent $1.2 million renovating the building after a brutal hailstorm caused the eatery to close for nearly two years due to roof damage. It reopened in 2020 as Earnest Hall, just weeks before the pandemic forced many dine-in restaurants to close, which proved to be the final blow for the establishment.

Both names for the eatery pay homage to the original restaurateur who once operated there. In 1943, Ernie Capillupo opened the eponymous Ernie’s Supper Club in what used to be an old Dodge dealership. It would give way to the 3 Sons Italian Restaurant in the 1980s, which itself moved to another location in 2009.
