Denver area’s 10 priciest home sales in 2023 all topped $9M

The top 10 luxury home sales in 2023 in the Denver metro area included six Boulder properties, two Denver homes, one Cherry Hills Village mansion and a ski resort turned luxury ranch above Golden.

No. 10: $9.3 million: 450 Westwood Drive in Denver

Listing agents: Helm Weaver Helm with Compass-Denver

Buyer’s Agent: Blake O’Shaughnessy with LIV Sotheby’s International Realty

Details: TDDK Revocable Trust spent $9.3 million to win a bidding war for this Country Club mansion listed for $8.5 million. The purchase set a record for the neighborhood. 

Anita Haley and Kenneth Weiner bought the mansion in 2012 for $4.9 million, and Haley focused on remodeling it to return it to its Tudor glory.

The six-bedroom, nine-bath mansion built in 1942 includes a swimming pool and a one-lane bowling alley. 

It features marble flooring, chandeliers, a formal sitting room with hand-painted beams, oversized French doors, custom-stained Leonardo Da Vinci Glass window art panels and a hand-carved stone wood-burning fireplace.

100 Detroit St. Unit 602

No. 9: $9.3 million: 100 Detroit St. in Denver

Buyer’s agents: Gina Lorenzen and Kara Couzens team with Kentwood Real Estate DTC.

Details: Using the Charles P. Gallagher Trust, private equity executive Charlie Gallagher purchased the 10,907-square-foot, three-bedroom, nine-bath condo in Cherry Creek North in December. 

The condo, with 10 fireplaces and six garage spaces, was listed for $12.9 million in August. Cable TV pioneer Glenn Jones, who died in 2015, and his longtime partner, Dianne Eddolls, previously owned the property.

Gallagher was inducted into the Colorado Business Hall of Fame in 2011 and served on numerous boards, including the Denver Art Museum, Regis University and the Archdiocese of Denver’s Catholic Foundation.

No. 8: $9.5 million: 1085 5th St. in Boulder

Details: Bleeker LLC purchased the Nordic-inspired custom home from Canard Capital LLC for $9.5 million.

The 4,400-square-foot home was designed by Aspen- and Boulder-based Studio B. The home features steeply pitched roofs and glass walls. The single-level home sits at the base of Flagstaff on a secluded .75-acre lot.

No. 7: $9.8 million: 950 Gilbert St.

Details: 950 Gilbert LLC purchased the 9,000-square-foot modern farmhouse from Matthew and Meg Erickson in January.

They bought the property in 2014 for $2.3 million. Matthew Erickson is the CEO of Vero Fiber Networks. Meg Erickson is an account director at Epsilon.

The five-bedroom, five-bath home was designed by Dale Hubbard of Surround Architecture and built by S.L. Murphy Construction in 2015. The home, which borders Edward Sell Smith Park, features Italian bluestone walkways in the backyard, a covered patio, and front and backyard fire pits.

541 Highland Ave. in Boulder

Details: The 130-year-old Boulder mansion sold for $200,000 over its list price in May.

Constructed in 1890, the six-bedroom, six-bath house was one of the first in Boulder’s Mapleton Hill Historic District. 

Christopher and Jennifer Centeno, who bought the house in 2005 for $2.5 million, sold it to Zachary and Natasia Smith for $10.2 million.

City Trust purchased the property from BMD Ranch LLC.

J.C. Exempt Trust purchased the mansion from the Kevin D. Ness Revocable Trust and the Stephanie J. Ness Revocable Trust. Kevin Ness is the former CEO of Inscripta, a life science technology company that develops digital genome engineering solutions.

Details: 1334 Grapevine LLC purchased three parcels of a former ski-area-turned-luxury-ranch in October. John and Debi Medved, former owners of the car dealerships that bore their name, created Bear Mountain Ranch in the 1990s on the former Arapahoe East Ski Area to raise their six children.

The Oct. 12 sale included a 17,000-square-foot mansion with nine bedrooms and a seven-car garage, and more than doubled Jefferson County’s previous highest-price property record

The Medveds first listed the property’s 160 acres and the mansion at 1334 S. Grapevine Road for $37 million with LIV Sotheby’s International Realty in 2020. The property was later relisted and divided into multiple parcels

Details: Nicholas D. Miller — a musician, DJ, producer and songwriter known professionally as Illenium — spent $15 million in December to buy a 23,000-square-foot mansion from private equity executive Charlie Gallagher. 

Chicago architect Gregory Maire designed the eight-bedroom, 14-bath, brick-and-stone mansion to resemble a 14th-century French country home. Constructed in 1993, the house sits adjacent to the 10th green at Cherry Hills Country Club. 

Miller and his wife, Lara, purchased the home from Gallagher and his wife, Diane. The Gallaghers listed the property for $18.5 million in August.

Miller has released five studio albums, including “Illenium” in April.
