One of the last agricultural parcels adjacent to the Green Valley Ranch golf club is getting turned into housing.
Oakwood Homes has built 148 homes in the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood this year, and plans to add 360 more by yearend on an 80-acre parcel alongside the golf course, spokeswoman Jennifer Shermer confirmed.
Green Valley Ranch is located east of Tower Road between 38th and 56th avenues, about 10 miles from Denver International Airport and 16 miles from downtown. It includes about 8,600 homes and spans 2,750 acres.
Oakwood Homes started building in Green Valley Ranch in 1992, and has continued development in the neighborhood in response to high demand for housing.
The new homes are 1,200 to 1,400 square feet, and are priced from $250,000 to the high $300,000s, Shermer said.
The median sale price of a single-family home in Denver in May was $418,000, according to a report from the Denver Metro Association of Realtors.
“Green Valley Ranch is a growing community with a semi-private golf course, beautiful clubhouse, large recreation center, skate park, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and award-winning schools,” said David Bracht, Oakwood Homes’ Denver division president. “This neighborhood is also home to a weekly summer farmers’ market and concert series, as well as holiday events throughout the year.”
Citing the tight housing market in Denver, Oakwood Homes plans to continue building in Green Valley Ranch in 2018. The company also has developments in Castle Rock, Colorado Springs, Commerce City, Erie and Loveland.
