Denver clothing brand Jiberish is closing its Boston store, the company announced last week.
The shop on Boston’s upscale Newbury Street has been open for about three years. It was the clothing brand’s third store after its Denver and Park City locations.
“There is a lot of very exciting news that we will be revealing over the coming months that is possible as a result of us making this decision,” the company said a written statement.
In a February interview with BusinessDen, Jiberish founder Pete Drago said that the clothing designer would be expanding into Europe and Asia in 2015.
The company’s statement also said that it may return to the Boston area in the future.
Drago said that Jiberish is also looking at several larger retail locations for its current location at 1620 Platte St., its home since 2009. Jiberish’s current warehouse, office, and store are located in three separate buildings, and the brand wants to consolidate some of its operations under one roof, he said.
Jiberish began when Drago and his business partners Dave Boger and Gabe Anderson started selling clothing to wholesalers in 2005. Its original production run consisted of 12 sweatshirts and 12 T-shirts and cost $400.
