Guests at the Crawford Hotel – a new business running out of Union Station – need not fire up the Uber app.

Since opening in July, the Crawford Hotel has offered its gusts free use of a Tesla electric car. Guests are driven by one of the hotel’s staff, who will drop them off or pick them up within a 2-mile radius of the hotel.

“We wanted to offer something that was unique, luxurious and green. The Tesla sort of fits the bill on all accounts,” Crawford spokeswoman Julie Dunn said. “It’s been very popular. A lot of guests come down and just ask to go for a ride.”

The hotel owns only one of the $69,000 electric cars and doesn’t plan on adding to its inventory any time soon.
