Alterra Mountain Co., the Denver-based ski resort operator, on Tuesday said it is doubling the discount given to renewing season pass holders.
The company, whose resorts in Colorado include Steamboat and Winter Park, said returning Ikon Pass holders will get $200 off the pass for the upcoming season, instead of the previously planned $100. The Ikon Pass starts at $799.
Holders of the company’s more-restrictive Ikon Base Pass get $100 off as a result of the doubling. That pass starts at $599 for next season.
The company said passholders who renewed for the upcoming season prior to Tuesday are eligible for the additional discount, and that Alterra will contact them.
Alterra also said pass prices now will increase on May 27, a change from the previously scheduled April 23.
Alterra described the additional discount as a “show of gratitude” in “these uneasy and unprecedented times.” The company and its Broomfield-based rival Vail Resorts also are facing scrutiny from current pass holders and other customers because of their forced early closure this season.
Airport: Denver International Airport said Tuesday that it will be eligible to receive approximately $269 million through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act stimulus package, which was signed into law last month.
The act provides approximately $10 billion in grants for airports experiencing severe economic disruption.
The airport said Tuesday that passenger traffic at TSA checkpoints has fallen by 95 percent from the same time last year. The airport said it has implemented a hiring freeze and is reprioritizing capital projects to position itself for recovery.
“The funds will go a long way to helping us meet our financial obligations, support our bond ratings and save jobs,” airport CEO Kim Day said in a statement.
