Denver Pizza Co. is pushing outside the city limits.

The local pizza chain is getting ready to open its newest restaurant at 5455 W 38th Ave. in Wheat Ridge this month. Co-owner Andrew Dunlop leased 1,000 square feet, which was previously home to a Cricket Wireless store, in February and hopes to open it in the next couple of weeks.

“As a group, we like that area and the way it’s growing,” Dunlop said. “I lived there when I first moved out to Denver and thought it would be a great spot.”

Denver Pizza Co. opened its first location in the Golden Triangle neighborhood at 309 W. 11th Ave. in 2009 and a second in 2018 at 908 N. Jersey St. in the Montclair neighborhood. The Wheat Ridge space will be its largest.

Each location dishes up pies for takeout and delivery only. Dunlop said the company is working on adding liquor to the menu.

Denver Pizza Co. serves 12 Colorado-themed pizzas, like the Cripple Creek meat lover’s ‘za, the Boulder Pie vegetarian pie and the 5280 with pepperoni, mushrooms, mozzarella and a house-made spice blend. Other offerings include chicken wings, salads, breadsticks and Little Man Ice Cream.

Brokers Justin Gregory and Patrick McGlinchey of SRS Real Estate Partners represented Denver Pizza in the lease. The company hired Wheat Ridge-based Augusta Group to complete renovations.

“We have great pizza, and there are great people here, so I think we’ll fit right in,” said Dunlop, adding the company wants to continue to expand.
