Art deco Bonnie Brae mansion tops December home sales

A new 8,000-square-foot home inspired by Miami’s South Beach art deco landmarks topped December sales in the Denver metro at nearly $8 million. 

The seven-bedroom, eight-bath home, with a six-car garage and swimming pool, is located at 890 S. Milwaukee St. on a corner lot near Bonnie Brae Park. 

In August 2021 Michael Piccirillo of Piccirillo Signature Homes purchased the property for $1.2 million and built the new home.

Piccirillo listed it for $7.5 million on Aug. 15, and had it under contract a few days later. On Dec. 16, the sale to the Kendall Family Revocable Trust closed for $200,000 over the home’s list price.

Delroy Gill with LIV Sotheby’s International Realty represented Piccirillo Signature Homes. Cindi Rogers with CR Colorado Homes represented the Kendall Family.

According to MLS data compiled by REcolorado, here are December’s next four most expensive home sales:

490 S. Holly St. in Englewood: $7 million

Listing agent: Nancy Walters with Kentwood Real Estate DTC

Buyer’s agent: Wendy Lee with Kentwood Real Estate DTC

Details: The estate of William L. Cook, who died in September 2023, sold this 4,425-square-foot home to Dahlia CHV LLC, a Delaware-based corporation. 

Cook was the longtime president of Howard Lorton Furniture and Design in Denver. 

The five-bedroom, four-bath home, constructed in 1973, closed for $1 million under its $8 million list price. 

319 High Ridge Way

319 High Ridge Way in Castle Pines: $4.8 million

Listing agent: Stacie Chadwick with LIV Sotheby’s International Realty

Buyer’s agent: Kimberlee Prechodko with Keller Williams DTC

Details: This 2.43-acre property with 700-year-old pinyon pines includes a saltwater pool, a professionally lit tennis-pickleball-sport court, a 12-foot water feature with a koi pond, a bike track, a sledding hill, a fire pit and a snowmelt system.

David and Sally Pearson bought the property for $1.5 million in 2005. Since then, they have expanded and updated the six-bedroom, eight-bath, 9,300-square-foot mansion. 

Bowen 2024 Irrevocable Trust bought the home for its list price.

2540 S. Fillmore St. in Denver: $4.5 million

Listing agents: Christopher Bouc and Ian Wolfe with LIV Sotheby’s International Realty

Buyer’s agent: Charles Ward with Novella Real Estate

Details: This 6,700-square-foot new brick home with copper accents sits in Observatory Park. It includes four bedrooms, six baths, and a three-car garage.

ENS Investments II LLC bought the property in August 2021 for $1.3 million before transferring it to 2540 S. Fillmore LLC on Nov. 10, 2022.

2540 S. Fillmore LLC listed the new home for $4.6 million on Sept. 18. Dan and Julie Alonzi purchased it for $4.5 million on Dec. 20.

Dan Alonzi is the senior vice president and chief financial officer of Leprino Foods. 

Denver-based Leprino Foods is the largest mozzarella maker in the world and provides cheese for the country’s largest pizza chains. 

2150 S Saint Paul Street2150 S. Saint Paul St. in Denver: $4.1 million

Listing agent: The Hoholik Team with Milehimodern

Buyer’s agent: Lyndi Martoia with 8z Real Estate

Details: 8340 Investments LLC bought the property for $900,000 in 2023 and hired Wells Construction and the Coesivo Design Group to create this 6,300-square-foot Observatory Park mansion. 

The open-floor plan features a curving staircase, six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. 

The LLC listed the home for $4.3 million on Dec. 2, and it went under contract on Dec. 16. 

3409 Navajo Street LLC closed on the house on Dec. 31.
