801 Fish has gone belly-up.
The restaurant, located at 999 17th St., will reopen with a new theme under the same owner, according to landlord Peter Culshaw, executive vice president of Shea Properties.
The Des Moines-based 801 Restaurant Group, which debuted the seafood joint in February 2023, also owns 801 Chophouse at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.
“Their fish concept is struggling there, so they’re looking to rebrand,” Culshaw said. “The reality is that downtown is struggling right now.”
He is unsure when the relaunch will be.
“I want a vibrant and fun restaurant in the space, and I’m confident they’ll make something else work,” he said.
