A 132-acre Castle Rock ranch owned by former TW Telecom President and CEO John Blount sold for a record $7.8 million to top August home sales in the Denver metro area.
The August top five includes two mansions that sold over their list price.
Blount bought the B5 Ranch in 2007 for $3.3 million.
The 1395 Waverton Ranch Road property includes a 10,425-square-foot mansion with six bedrooms and eight baths. The property also has a guest house, pool, hot tub, tennis court, skeet shooting range, more than 1,000 pine trees, and an Aspen grove.
Josh O’Connell with Compass-Denver represented the buyers, listed in public records as 2BR LLC.

4 Village Road, Cherry Hills Village: $7.5 million

Details: Listed in June for $6.4 million, this 17,000-plus-square-foot mansion sold for more than $1 million over its list price.
The home, which sits on a 2.5-acre lot, features a limestone exterior, custom millwork, crown molding, wide-plank hardwood floors, beamed ceilings, and oversized stone and brick fireplaces.
The late Richard and Linda Kelley, former owners of Outrigger Hotels, built the mansion in 2007. Richard Kelley died in February 2022 and Linda Van Gilder Kelley died in November 2022.
The Spark Family Trust purchased the home, according to property records.
5701 E. Stanford Drive, Cherry Hills Village: $7.3 million
