Orica lists site near Aurora for $12 million

The Centennial office scene is blowing up.

Australian mining explosives firm Orica has leased 26,000 square feet in Waterview II at 9155 E. Nichols Ave. in Centennial, according to Dallas-based Lincoln Property Co., which brokered the deal.

The space will serve as Orica’s North American headquarters, which are currently on a 478-acre campus the company owns east of Aurora.

Orica put that campus, which has multiple buildings, up for sale earlier this year for $12 million.

Orica chose Watkins because it provided plenty of space for research and development operations while being close to a metropolitan area. But company spokeswoman Jennifer Dunne told BusinessDen in June that Orica had determined it was too far from where most workers lived.  

Dunne, who didn’t respond to a request for comment last week, said in June, the company planned to relocate its headquarters to southern metro Denver while moving its research and development operations elsewhere near the campus.

Orica’s campus at 33101 E. Quincy Ave. in Watkins is still on the market.

Andrew Piepgras and Peter Thomas of Lincoln Property Co. represented the landlord in the Centennial lease deal. Mark Dwyer, also with the firm, represented the tenant and is listing the Watkins campus for sale.
