The Colorado Department of Transportation plans to sell an undeveloped property in Globeville.

The state agency says on its website that it is seeking bids for a 0.92-acre rectangular site known as 4601 Washington St., which sits just north of Interstate 70. The property is currently home to a tree, some electric boxes and 165 feet of steel guardrail.

The site is zoned U-MX-3 UO-1 UO-2, which allows for a variety of uses and up to three stories, according to CDOT. The property has frontage along Washington Street, but can only be accessed currently by the alley to the west.

The agency’s property management office is accepting bids through 1 p.m. May 26, and high bidders must be able to close within 30 days of the acceptance of the bid. Bids must be submitted with a $10,000 deposit.

CDOT says the property has an appraised value of $1 million, but it will accept the highest bid that meets its undisclosed minimum reserve.

The agency will hold two open houses at the property, from 1 to 3 p.m. May 10 and from 9 to 11 a.m. May 24.

CDOT says on its website that, as part of its standard process, if no bids are submitted, then the property will move to the “active listing” stage. In that stage, interested parties may submit an offer for the property at any time.
