Benny’s Restaurant & Cantina hasn’t given up on its customers just yet.
The Mexican restaurant at 301 E. 7th Ave., which has been serving tacos and margaritas since 1987, has been closed since March 2020, when restaurants were ordered to close their dining rooms due to the pandemic.
But owner Benjamin Armas announced on Facebook that Benny’s plans to reopen with a remodeling and a new name: “Benny’s Taverna.”
The restaurant started serving Mexican food in 1987.
“We will be serving Benny’s Classics (combos, burritos, tacos with our famous homemade green chili), along with some traditional American & Latin fusion. Of course, we will have our amazing margaritas,” the post reads.
Armas, who runs the business with his family, has owned the 5,158-square-foot building since 1991, according to property records. He did not respond to a request for additional comment.
