Tharp Cabinet Co., a cabinet company founded in Loveland in 1971, will open a showroom in Denver at the end of June.

The Denver location at 621 Kalamath St., Suite 100, is just north of where the Sixth Avenue freeway turns into West Sixth Avenue. It will feature about 4,000 square feet of display space.

Tharp already sold cabinets in Denver. Denver, Northern Colorado, Cheyenne, Colorado Springs and the mountain communities of Winter Park, Steamboat Springs, Vail and Breckenridge were already markets where the company operates. The new location, however, will give the company a more visible presence in Colorado’s largest city.

Garth Rummery, president of the company, said about 30 percent of Tharp’s business comes out of the Denver market, much of it former Northern Colorado customers who have sought products for properties in Denver.

Tharp’s business has shifted somewhat over the years. Where at one time it drew 95 percent of its business from the residential market, now about 75 percent is single-family residential and the remainder commercial and multi-family residential.

Tharp consolidated its operations from seven buildings into a single facility in Loveland in 2019, where it had about 100,000 square feet of showroom, manufacturing and office space. Tharp purchased the 170,000-square-foot space at 380 W. 37th St., which previously housed a directory printing business.

“We’re actually using about 120,000 square feet now; with material shortages, we’re storing more materials,” Rummery said.
