The founder of Centennial-based Outward Hound, which sells toys, gear and feeders for dogs, is hunting down a buyer for his $5.5 million Castle Rock mansion.

Kyle and Jennifer Hansen listed their 15,212-square-foot home at 18 Borealis Way on Aug. 27. The couple renovated and expanded the five-bed, eight-bath home in 2016, keeping some of the original architectural finishes from the 1990 build.

There’s no shortage of activities to do on the property’s 1.4 acres. The house comes with a 2,000-square-foot safe room with wine storage, a game room, a workout room, an indoor and outdoor pool, an indoor basketball court and a sauna.

“My favorite feature is the livability of the house,” said listing agent Stacie Chadwick. “It’s a home that’s made for entertaining and having fun.”

Hansen launched the pet product brand Kyjen in 1998 because he and Jennifer felt like their dog’s toys weren’t stimulating enough. He later rebranded it to Outward Hound in 2013 after partnering with an outside investor. It’s grown rapidly and acquired a number of brands, including Charming Pets, Wholesome Pride treats and Planet Dog, according to a press release.
