“It’s a combination of companies that are in the multifamily space that offer distinctly different services,” Shwayder said. “It allows us to offer a full set of services to our clients that are looking to secure debt for their projects.”

Shwayder said the arrangement has been in the works for about five months, but declined to disclose terms of the deal. He did say it will help Unique Apartment Group do more affordable housing business by taking advantage of Greystone’s lending network.

Shwayder will head up the new joint venture, called Greystone Unique Apartment Group. Unique Apartment Group is the multifamily team under real estate brokerage Unique Properties. The team has nine brokers with two more support staff.
