In a litany of troubles worthy of its own country tune, the Arizona-based operator of a shuttered Stapleton Toby Keith-themed bar is facing a lawsuit from its landlord over rent along with pressure from the city over back taxes.
Stapleton North Town LLC, a subsidiary of Forest City Enterprises, is suing Arizona company CRGE Colorado LLC for failure to pay rent at the 22,000-square-foot Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill.
The complaint doesn’t specify how much rent is allegedly owed.
The suit also names Frank Capri, who allegedly signed an agreement making him personally responsible for unpaid rent, as a separate defendant. Capri owns Boomtown Entertainment, of which CRGE is a subsidiary, according to a local news report.
This is only the latest of Capri’s sad songs. Boomtown owes the city and county of Denver $70,000 in back taxes, according to the Denver Business Journal. In order to pay off the company’s debt, the city is auctioning off the contents of the bar, from salt shakers to guitars.
