The head of Denver-based development firm Magnetic Capital announced Wednesday that Boka Restaurant Group will open multiple concepts in the company’s office building under construction at the corner of 2nd Avenue and Adams Street.
The Chicago-based restaurant group is taking space on both the ground floor and rooftop of the 100,000-square-foot office building, which broke ground last June at 3250 E. 2nd Ave. Construction is slated to wrap up in early 2026.
Michelin-starred chef Brian Lockwood, a Boulder native, will run the restaurants. The announcement did not specify the type of cuisine or names of the concepts. No one from Boka returned a BusinessDen request for comment. Huml, too, did not respond to a request seeking additional information.
Lockwood has run and worked at a number of restaurants around the U.S., including The French Laundry in Yountville, California, Frasca Food & Wine in Boulder and Eleven Madison Park in New York City, which earned three Michelin stars.
It will be the first restaurant in Denver for Boka, a portmanteau of founders Kevin Boehm and Rob Katz’s surnames. The initial restaurant, also called Boka, has had a single Michelin star since 2011.
In addition to Chicago, the company has nearly 30 eateries from Los Angeles to New York City, from sushi spot Momotaro to steakhouse joint Swift & Sons.
Preliminary drawings obtained by BusinessDen show three concepts going into the Cherry Creek building, with two separate restaurants spanning a little over 10,000 square feet on the ground floor that share a single kitchen. Another 5,000-square-foot bar and restaurant would occupy the roof of the five-story building, per the plans.
The planned office building is 80% leased, according to Magnetic, which is run by Huml and partner Chris Carroll. Bow River Capital, a private alternative asset manager, will move its headquarters into 30,000 square feet inside the building.
