A data center developer is loading a new downtown headquarters.

Denver-based Rowan Digital Infrastructure, currently at 1800 Wazee St., submitted permits to Denver last month to build out a 14,900-square-foot space in the 16 Market Square building at 1400 16th St.

Rowan didn’t respond to a request for comment. The company helps buy and develop sites for data center campuses. It has projects ongoing in Texas, Maryland and Oregon, but none here at home in Colorado.

The new office space will cost $1.3 million, or $88 per square foot, public records show. San Francisco-based Interior Architects drew up the plans. Local firm Boots Construction is serving as general contractor, according to the documents.

Rowan will go in around the second floor of the mixed-use 16 Market Square building, which is eight stories and was constructed in 2000. Chipotle, Little Finch and Cava have ground-floor retail space. Tech firm Ibotta recently leased 97,000 square feet in the building.

16 Market Square has 183,000 square feet of office space and 23 residences. It is owned by an Illinois pension fund.
