The first Amazon Books location in Colorado opens Wednesday.

The e-commerce giant’s brick-and-mortar bookstore concept is set to open at 10 a.m. at 2787 E. 2nd Ave. in Cherry Creek, on the ground floor of the new Financial House office building.

BusinessDen was the first to report, in August, that Amazon Books was taking space in the building.

Amazon said this week that the Cherry Creek location will be its 19th bookstore in the country. Expect to see titles that the company said are particularly popular in the Denver area — nonfiction works such as “Educated,” “Dare to Lead” and “Extreme Ownership,” and fiction works such as “The Great Alone,” “Little Fires Everywhere” and “Beneath the Scarlett Sky.”

Amazon’s other retail concepts are Amazon 4-Star, which sells highly reviewed products — one opened at the Park Meadows mall in Lone Tree last November — and Amazon Go, a convenience store concept with 10 locations. The company also owns Whole Foods.

In Cherry Creek, Amazon Books will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Financial House was developed by BMC Investments in partnership with Denver-based Bow River Capital Partners. Both companies plan to move into the building, along with coworking giant WeWork. Two other office tenants have not been disclosed.

  1. Hi, Kay. Reporter here. Thanks for reading. The story doesn’t say it’s Amazon’s first store in Colorado, but that it’s the first Amazon Books location in the state. The Park Meadows location was originally intended to be an Amazon Books, but ended up opening in November as one of the first Amazon 4-Star stores, a different retail concept. We wrote about the change and that store here https://businessden.com/2018/11/01/more-than-books-amazon-alters-concept-of-park-meadows-store-opening-today/
