A Vail-based travel company is the fastest growing firm in the state, with a marketing startup in Denver coming in second, according to Inc. magazine’s annual Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America.

Of the 5,000 companies that made the cut, 146 were from Colorado with 97 of them based in the Denver metro area.

Harvest Hosts in Vail grew roughly 5,700 percent in revenue between 2018 and 2021. The business enables RVers to book unique spaces for overnight camping, like wineries and farms. The business ranked No. 70 overall.

Leading all Denver area companies was Matter Made, which ranked No. 81. It grew its revenue by about 5,100 percent between 2018 and 2021, according to the list.

The firm provides paid media and revenue-generating resources to help small software companies scale up to reach their next round of funding.

Matter Made also assists large brands with improving their sales, and has worked with companies like DropBox and Loom.

“It’s kind of a hats off to our team because, you know, we are a small agency. We are a startup,” said Jeeyan Rostam-Abadi, vice president of revenue at Matter Made.

Its headquarters is at 1624 Market St. Ste. 226, but the company is a fully remote operation with its 35 employees scattered across the country.

In order to make it on the Inc. 5000 list, a business must have made at least $100,000 in revenue in 2018 and $2 million in 2021 and be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit and independent. Businesses must apply and pay a fee to be included.

Businesses are then ranked by their percentage of revenue growth between 2018 and 2021.

Here are the next nine highest-ranked businesses from the Denver metro area:
